I named this thread "Killings" as not to focus on only the recent Connecticut shooting.
First, I should perhaps say that we are not really human beings. Let me explain; we're currently being human beings and everything else, but we're not actually human...and on the other hand we are human currently. We're understanding being human...does that make sense?
Anyway...many of us die every day, some in miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies (if there were a god, it would be the most prolific abortionist around). Babies and children also die from disease and mutation and acts of horror each day.
What frustrates me a bit is when people suggest that the reason for such events as the shooting is that god isn't taught in schools...or that this is a result of sin and so forth and so on. When in fact it has nothing to do with either of those, and it's ridiculous to suggest such as a resolution. People have in fact killed in the name of deities...and the suggestion that what someone did thousands of years ago (the Earth being only a few thousand years old) results in the death of children at an elementary school. Yes, this has been suggested, believe it or not.
In regard to the shooter and whether he will be punished? No...there's no punishment following death. However, we do remember that we're each and everything...and it is therefore not pleasant to be such a human following our death. He will have to help himself through his victims. His victims will most likely help him with the process of remembering (geez...I wish there was a better way to put it).
If we want people punished, we have to do it here as death is not a penalty...it's a transference of information.
I wish that we as nders had a trauma group established in which we could talk to people that have been affected by such horror...my heart goes out to parents as I can't imagine anything worse than losing a child. A child isn't only linked to our genetics and therefore we have to make sure they survive (as evolutionists and biologists claim). We are the same in regard to our own biological as we are to those we adopt.
A child is our specie's future...no matter the parent. They are essential to our survival as a species and to the evolution of an intelligence. One loss veers us in another direction as does a gain.
Each human life that becomes realized is amazing...but is also subject to probabilities, and within those probabilities (although actually slight) are possibilities toward horror to which we must search for the answers. They are amongst our challenges...and in order to protect ourselves from such horrors we must counter the detriment and resolve it here.
